IC’s client, ICAM Funds, proposed the expansion of the Churchill Shopping Centre in Kilburn to include entertainment facilities including a trampolining gym and indoor go karts. The proposed location of these facilities was occupied by a large stockpile (11,000 m3) of materials placed during previous works on the site, including remediation of the former railyards and the staged development of the existing Churchill Centre.
IC completed a Preliminary Site Investigation for the site to determine potential contamination risks, a Waste Classification of the stockpiled materials to inform disposal and reuse options, and a Construction Environmental Management Plan to guide the removal of the stockpiled materials during the construction process.
IC supervised the removal of the materials to ensure safe and appropriate segregation and disposal of waste materials and soils, and provided a verification report confirming the removal of the materials in accordance with the provisions of the CEMP.
IC then undertook further soil investigations beneath the footprint of the stockpile (incorporating geotechnical investigations) to provide further waste classification data for the underlying soils and inform disposal options for construction of footings, foundations and services.
