IC was engaged to undertake an updated environmental assessment of a former bitumen plant in Subiaco, WA.
The site was proposed for redevelopment for residential apartments, including basements, but had restrictions placed on its construction due to previously identified groundwater and soil vapour impacts caused by previous industrial use.
These restrictions required the “tanking” of the basements to restrict the ingress of soil vapours into underground spaces.
IC undertook soil, soil vapour and groundwater investigations to identify the current status of vapour risks to the proposed development, and provided advice to the client regarding their proposed design. IC liaised with DWER and the site Auditor to amend the development restrictions.
IC also undertook waste classification works to classify over 30,000 m3 of material to be excavated from the site during the construction process.
