Infrastructure Consulting partnered with BluBuilt during the tender phase of the Dock One Footbridge project, working closely with Kite Projects and Renewal SA to present three unique and innovative concepts. This collaboration enabled us to refine a cost-efficient design, ultimately helping BluBuilt secure the contract.
Following the contract award, we developed the chosen concept, incorporating prestressed concrete deck units, in-situ piers and concrete-filled steel piles. By balancing geometric simplicity with complex design requirements and material availability, we ensured that all critical design parameters, including earthquake resistance and harmonic resonance, were met.
The full design was modelled and documented in Revit, including modelling of reinforcement for both the precast and in-situ abutment and piers. This allowed for comprehensive constructibility and clash avoidance reviews, resulting in minor reinforcement changes prior to construction, minimising costs and potential delays.
Our involvement extended into construction engineering, where BluBuilt engaged us to design all temporary works structures, including pile driving guides, pier formwork (6-piece steel tubs) and support structures for the precast concrete abutment tubs. Our design utilised available materials and ensured flexibility in construction staging by allowing the build to begin at either end of the bridge depending on construction programme and site constraints.
At Infrastructure Consulting, we understand that every engineering and civil project is unique, with its own set of challenges and objectives. Our team is here to support you every step of the way.
